About Sophi Flan
The idea came from my wife Maribel
Together we worked on it
The name was born with our first daughter two years earlier,
…..and you, our customers have made our products something FLANTASTIC.
Originals from Mexico, we, Horacio & Maribel, arrived in Salt Lake in 1999 looking for a good place to grow a family. Sophia, our oldest child was born in the year 2000, and the story began.
First, friends told us the flan was of a very good quality, then… during the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, The Blue Iguana, a local Mexican cuisine restaurant, placed the first big order, twelve whole flans, and today we continue to provide them with our delicious flan, a delicatessen their customers are delighted with every day. Then came other customers, and the list kept growing to the point that today it can be found all over the Salt Lake Valley, from Brigham City in the north, to Payson in the south, and even in some stores and restaurants in Idaho, mainly, for now, in Hispanic owned restaurants.
These have been years of great efforts and hard work but we have maintained alive the Hispanic tradition of our homeland. And in so doing, we owe a profound debt of gratitude to many people for their assistance in this long quest; among them, and in no specific order:
Waldemar Albornoz (business advisor)
Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund
Bryan Stratton (Stratton Sales)
All of our loyal customers who trusted our products
Our employees, who have contributed their effort and work to create this wonderful product
And all those we have left behind and haven’t seen for many years…
Thank you for your support in the distance, and your good wishes.
